I know the cost is passed on to each of us through subscriptions, but I'd say that Salesforce.com may have one of the most sophisticated teams of IT infrastructure people around. The fact that they're on the Salesforce payroll and not on that those 63,000 companies is a huge savings through the economy of their scale. Fair enough Mike. The mandatory downtime is a problem with some operations. * The companies doing on-premise upgrades likely have perpetual use licenses, which over 5 years may actually be lower than recurring annual subscriptions. Just sayin... ;-) Well, as much of a Salesforce zealot that I am, it is worth pointing out in all fairness:
